Sound Editors: Sound Forge 7+8!, Wavelab 5 and Adobe Audition 1.5
WaveLab 5.0 is a fast audio editing and mastering software available
for Windows XP or Windows 2000. This is just another program I would like to see on the Mac platform
too.
It combines a very user-friendly stereo editor with a whole range of processing
capabilities, effects, Red-Book compatible CD burning software, audio analysis,
an audio file database, batch processing and sampler support.
Since version 3.0 it has a nondestructive editing concept.
It is a
software that supports CD and DVD audio in one user interface. and DVD
audio authoring
Surround
audio up to 8 channels in WMA 5.1 or DVD audio.
In order to use the surround capabilities of this software you would
need a soundcard with 5.1 or 7.1 sound and speakers that fit. If you
only need stereo editing you can stay with version 4 which is a lot
cheaper.
Plus:
- 24-Bit Wave Editor
- Multitrack Audio Arranging
- CD Burning
- Batch Processor
- Real-time Editing in 32-bit floating point precision
- High quality sound effects
- Supports many formats
- Sampler Support
- Unlimited Undo/Redo
Minus:
- Not for Mac
- quite expensive
